Anna Silk is a Fredericton resident, and is the daughter of Peter Silk, who was an academic. The mother of her, Ilkay Silk, had a diverse range of abilities, which included the ability to act, direct, produce, write plays, teach, and be director of drama at St. Thomas University. Anna was born in Fredericton and is the child of Ilkay Silk and Peter Silk. Her mother is a "English-Turkish Cypriot ex-pat" born in Britain. Anna remembers attending the rehearsals of plays as a child as well as watching her mother doing her job. In her early years Anna appeared in a number of commercials on television. Anna relocated out of Toronto in 1999 to Los Angeles in 1999. She came across Seth Cooperman in 2007 at an acting training in Los Angeles, and they were engaged in 2009. They were married with a civil ceremony on was held in December, and then renewed their vows in an Jewish ceremony in Fredericton in April 2011, in the wake of Anna's conversion into Judaism.
