He currently has a contract with Combate Americas. 2 Ortiz is most famous due to his participation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in which as an ex- Light Heavyweight Champion and holding the title from April 14th 2001 to September 26 2003, he served as the Light Heavyweight Champion. He was among the first athletes to be a part of the sport, along with fighters such as Randy Couture or Chuck Liddell. Ortiz was the most lucrative pay per view star of 2006 because of his bouts with Forrest Griffin, Ken Shamrock, and Liddell.
